General Description
Hotel Nicoletta is a recently constructed hotel located in a splendid and quiet position 50 metres from the sea, at Santa Maria Navarrese in the centre of the resort, on the east central coast of the island, ten minutes from the port and from Tortolì – Arbatax airport.
Hotel Nicoletta is modern and comfortable, as it opened in the summer of 2004, and has 28 rooms with en-suite bathrooms, all equipped with every comfort, such as air-conditioning, a mini-bar, safe-deposit box, hairdryer, TV and telephone.
Included in the services offered to our guests are an extensive breakfast buffet, a private underground car park and a panoramic terrace, equipped with sun beds and a fitness corner. We also offer assistance for mountain bikes.
Santa Maria Navarrese is a hamlet of Baunei and is a 10-minute drive from the town. The oldest oleasters in Europe can be admired in the square in front of the church bearing the same name. The tourist port, recently constructed, could be the starting point for a boat trip to “Cala Sisine”, “Cala Mariolu” and “Cala Goloritzè”.
The landscape offers vast opportunities with 70 km. of routes high up above the sea for lovers of free climbing, potholing, trekking or just for those who love to take “simple” walks in this wild and uncontaminated Mediterranean spot. Suffice to mention the “Selvaggio blu”, which hiking lovers describe as one of the most exhilarating routes in Europe, 5 days of excitement suspended between the sky and the sea.

How to reach the hotel
From Cagliari
Cagliari is the regional capital of the island, located in the south and joined to Ogliastra by the S.S. 125 road, known as the “Orientale Sarda”. It takes about 2 hours.
Leaving the city you will be on the S.S. 554 road, turn at the junction for Quartucciu, taking the S.S. 125 road. Go along the tree-lined road and follow the signs for Muravera and Villaputzu, the next two residential areas that you will encounter. Proceed on the S.S. 125 road, at 30 Km from Villaputzu, you will see the town of Tertenia on the left. The road continues, goes through two tunnels and arrives at the residential area of Cardedu, without passing through the centre, whilst you go through the town of Barisardo.
Continuing the journey you arrive at Tortolì, the largest town in Ogliastra. Here you will find indications for all of the other towns not more than a few kilometres away, such as Girasole, Lotzorai and finally S. Maria Navarrese, being on the coast, in the direction of Olbia. Having left the town of Lotzorai, turn left at the junction for S. Maria Navarrese. Once in the town carry straight on, towards the small tourist port. You will find Hotel Nicoletta on the left.
From Olbia
Road: Olbia - Nuoro; Nuoro – Tortolì; Tortolì – S. Maria Navarrese SS 125 road | time: approx. 2h,15 min.
Olbia, a city located on the north-east coast, is a point of arrival both for the presence of the port and the airport. There are two roads that connect it to Ogliastra.
1) The fastest one as it is almost all clearway (approx. 2 hours).
The Olbia-Nuoro is a branch of the SS 131 road.
Leaving Olbia follow the signs for San Teodoro, keeping the sea on your left, or follow the S.S. 125 road or take the 4-lane Olbia clearway. From San Teodoro, after approx. 15 km of single-lane coast road, you will find signs for the clearway in the direction of Nuoro. After approx. 55 km you will arrive at the industrial area of Nuoro. Follow the signs for "Nuoro - Lanusei - Arbatax" (you will go through a tunnel approx. 1 km long).
Continue along the clearway until you reach the junction for Villagrande that you will find on the left facing a small "ESSO" service station after a drive of about 40 minutes from Nuoro. Then go through S. Barbara wood, and when you arrive at the junction for Villagrande, carry on in the direction of Tortolì. Here you will find indications for all of the other towns not more than a few kilometres away, such as Girasole, Lotzorai and finally S. Maria Navarrese, being on the coast, in the direction of Olbia. Having left the town of Lotzorai, turn left at the junction for S. Maria Navarrese. Once in the town carry straight on, towards the small tourist port. You will find Hotel Nicoletta on the left.
2) Panoramic and picturesque but tortuous (approx. 3 hours).
The alternative panoramic route that you can take to reach Ogliastra from Olbia would be to continue on the S.S. 125 road from San Teodoro. You will go through Budoni, Posada and Siniscola. Continuing, you will go through Orosei, leaving the coast and arriving at Dorgali. The “Orientale Sarda” continues after Dorgali on a tortuous route that dominates an uncontaminated landscape visible to the right: Gola di Gorropu, the highest canyon in Europe. You will then reach the Silana pass, after which follow the signs for Baunei (straight on), reaching S. Maria Navarrese, turning left at the junction until you come close to the sea, where you turn left towards the small tourist port. You will find Hotel Nicoletta on the left.
From Alghero
Alghero overlooks the north-west coast of Sardinia, it has an airport and is about 230 km away (a 3-hour journey).
Leaving Alghero, follow the signs for Sassari; when you are close to the city, without going through it, continue for Macomer. When you come close to the town, follow the signs for Nuoro.
In the regional capital follow the signs for Mamoiada, taking the clearway and heading towards Arbatax. You will pass the towns of Mamoiada and Villanova Strisaili travelling for approx. 70 Km. When the clearway ends, turn left for Villagrande Strisaili. You don’t go through the town thanks to a ring road. Continue in the direction of Tortolì, from where you can reach all of the other coastal towns not more than a few kilometres away, such as Girasole, Lotzorai and finally S. Maria Navarrese, being on the coast, in the direction of Olbia. Having left the town of Lotzorai, turn left at the junction for S. Maria Navarrese. Once in the town carry straight on, towards the small tourist port. You will find Hotel Nicoletta on the left.
From Porto Torres
Road: SS 131; bretella 131-Nuoro; Nuoro – Tortolì; Tortolì – S. Maria Navarrese | time: 2h, 45 min
Porto Torres overlooks the northern coast of the island, has a port and is approx. 250 Km away (a 3-hour journey).
From Porto Torres take the SS 131 road to Cagliari.
After approx. 90 km, at Abbasanta, you will find signs for Nuoro: take the flyover on the right that will take you to the other side of the road. Continue until you reach the industrial area of Nuoro. Follow the signs for "Nuoro - Lanusei - Arbatax" (you will go through a tunnel approx. 1 km long).
